In September 2012, the award-winning Alpine Regional Tennis Association (ARTA) was formed to grow and promote tennis in Gaylord and surrounding areas. It is a 501(c)3 organization..
As a US Tennis Association (USTA) community tennis association, ARTA provides training and resources for the sport of tennis as a safe, low cost, healthy outlet for people of all ages.

After meeting our initial goals of building USTA sanctioned courts, organizing High School Club Tennis Teams for boys and girls, and building programming that helps players of all levels grow their game, we are setting our sights on the next phase of improving tennis in Gaylord.
2026 Goals Include:
Working collaboratively with the Sportsplex to build a permanent bathroom and water station by the courts
Improve security measures to protect the integrity of the courts
Improve lighting on all courts
